Examination reports-domestic companies, 1955-[ongoing].

The Department of Insurance supervises and regulates the insurance business in Alabama, including insurance-related activities of legal service corporations. Examiners employed by the commissioner pursuant to Ala. Code, 27-2-20 (1975), et seq., determine a company's financial condition, ability to fulfill its obligations, and compliance with the law. The examinations serve as a check on the accuracy of the Insurance Company Annual Financial Reports (Domestic), series S-22-1. Each insurer is examined no less than once every three years. Included in each report is a list of company officers; a statement of assets, liabilities, surplus and other funds; and a summary of operations. Also included are the examiner's notations of material differences between the examination and annual statement, recommendations by the examiner as to changes in company procedures, and notations of compliance with prior recommendations.
